Expensive Cream, Inexpensive Cream, Same Cream!

We thought we’d share a short story with you. When we first started formulating several years ago, a very popular vendor of packaging (jars, tubes etc) told us in “utmost secrecy” that a certain vendor of skincare products who sold their cream in a national (in fact international) cosmetic chain for $140 also sold the exact same cream at a huge most powerful retailer in the world chain for $6. All they did was change the fragrance and packaging!

We’re guessing it’s a true or mostly true story. The fact is, there is a vast repertoire of ingredients that go into skincare products but even the most expensive ones like Organic Meadowfoam Seed Oil, retail foro $35 a gallon. In a typical jar of cream, even if it’s the first ingredient you won’t have more than a dollar’s worth of that ingredient at the very most.

We actually reverse engineered some of the most famous creams on the market and found that from purely a “what’s in the jar” point of view, not accounting for the packaging, marketing, paying the employees point of view, there was no cream on the market that we found that had more than $6.00 worth of ingredients. We’re talking about some creams that were/are selling for over $200 a jar!! Creams made by magical fairies in the woods of Sweden etc…. Great stories, great marketing schtick.  We love it.

You have to appreciate the ability to manipulate thousands of people into spending hundreds for a jar of cream when Oil of Olay would have done the same thing! Reward marketing genius. But buy Boost Skincare to reward yourself! Click here to visit our store.
