So, no squinting or making faces. Please!

Other than using Boost Skincare’s incredibly simple, healthy products what else can you do to get glowing gorgeous skin? Get oily! Yes, get oily! Eating more salmon and other oily fish, walnuts, olive oil and avocados will positively get your skin spectacular looking. This and exfoliation in conjunction with this. Of course you should do this in the form of a moderate mediterranean diet, but do this as an experiment: eat a small/normal portion of salmon twice a day (!) accompanied by a leafy green salad with olive oil on it. Then throw some walnuts on your yogurt (with a bit of honey!). Do this for three or four days, exfoliate at least once while you’re doing this. Voila…the promise of glowing gorgeous skin. Fulfilled! Nicholas Perricone touches on this subject in his various books, but it’s nothing new or revolutionary.

Oil in/oil out. The famous “glow” of the pregnant woman is this extra oil production that’s going on. Eating oily foods will NOT give you acne. Acne is certainly in part hormonal, but hormones don’t get out of whack because you’re eating more olive oil and salmon. It’s caused by various things such as health, pregnancy, age etc…

In Sweden, a country where there is a lot of spectacular skin, they eat a lot of salmon in particular. So, give it a try. If you’re convinced, then pull back, study up on the mediteranean diet or at least start incorporating salmon several times a week (or some other oily fish). You can steam it, broil it and feel good about what you’re doing. Get rid of a bad habit too and get enough sleep. One step at a time, you can do all these things. No need to completely re-vamp everything thats on your list at once. Be good to yourself!

November 1st will mark the launch of a very special exfoliator from Boost Skincare. Brown sugar from Mauritius combined with meadowfoam seed oil, argan oil, and other precious oils balanced with Evian water from France. True brown sugar, Turbinado and Muscovado from Mauritius are very special as they hold their shape for just a short time on your face in the oil emulsion. You get to massage your face for about 10 seconds and they dissolve. Brown sugar that you buy in the store is simply regular granulated sugar that’s been combined with brown syrup that adds the moisture and color. More for the dark than the light. Not that this is a bad thing, but we’ve found through a lot of experimentation that the muscovado just works better. Your skin will have a fantastic glow.

We can’t help ourselves…as the election nears, anytime we’re near a T.V. or a magazine, we’re checking out people’s skin. For those of you who read our posts regularly, you’ve noticed we like to observe what makes people younger looking. Though McCain is an older fella, he has a youthful energy and fire. Obama has a gorgeous way of carrying himself but you know as he gets older, he’ll seem even older because he doesn’t have the loud extroverted fire that McCain has.

Now, onto the ladies. Palin really has beautiful skin. Obviously part of it is the make-up and lighting but she has a glow that comes from, we believe, not smoking, eating a lot of fish, and we want to say coming from the northern climes, but upon close study we think it has more to do with the eating of more salmon that happens if you live in Alaska or Sweden. More so than the fact that it’s the northern climate. Hillary Clinton could have beautiful skin, she’s a nice looking woman, but frankly we feel she’s probably not exfoliating enough. Women on the go as she has been the past year especially have to exfoliate more and care for their skin.

Nieman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Sephora all have terrific skin care lines. Go and talk to a specialist there who will guide you to the right products for your skin. Of course you can also visit our store and get started with a great 3 part kit that’s on sale now at 25% off! Click here to visit our store.

If you have not dipped into that exfoliator jar in a while…time to start! You may think “it’s Winter, don’t need to exfoliate” but nothing could be more wrong. With the dry air inside heated buildings, this is the time to become regular about this great habit.

Why? Keeping the dead skin cells off your face will first of all allow your complexion to glow! Secondly, you can actually moisturize the living skin cells that hide below the dead layers. Not that it will penetrate, always remember nothing can penetrate your skin that isn’t a prescription. But you’ll be protecting the skin you love with a proper layer of moisture, whether it’s in cream, lotion or oil form. Then you can choose the right heaviness level. We’ll write more on what the correct heaviness level is for you. It may not be what you think… In the meantime, we have to promote our beloved Boost Skincare…check out the great set of three products in the store. All you need is the one set to have a great routine!

We wanted to re-visit the post that wrote about Dayle Haddon because we feel we didn’t do her complete justice as the post was rather short. Defining beauty is a very subjective sort of thing. Some people think blonde hair is beautiful while others love chestnut tresses, some like a plumper figure (I said some!!!) while others prefer a stick thin one. But universally we can comprehend though not necesssarily explain that some people just have that je ne ce quios, that x factor, that something special.

Those are the types of people that light up a room when they walk in. Dayle Haddon is that sort of woman. When she first walked in at Talbott’s on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, you couldn’t take your eyes off her. A woman in her 50’s, natural, and beautiful. But she had more than that as physical beauty is really all around us, though yes probably the plastic sort.

She, I believe, is a confident woman. Wow, is it that easy that simply having confidence adds beauty? Yes. It is. It’s the sort of confidence that radiates and comes from a lifetime of experience. Susan Sarandon has it too. There is physical beauty of course, but more importantly its the way these women carry themselves. They have the secret captured. The secret is that it’s one trip through this life, and this moment you are in will never come back. You cannot wind the clock back. So therefore, why punish your body and your mind? Love yourself. You might be having problems at work, at home but think hard for a moment and realize that “this too shall pass” is a good way to look at your problems. If you dwell in your percieved problems, you will diminish yourself. You will get sick. You will not be beautiful.

The beautiful are not exempt from the problems of living. Dayle Haddon has had her share too. From reading the book she wrote (terrific) to other stories about her, that much is clear. She didn’t get a free ride through life because she was gorgeous. She struck me as a true broad. Those who know me know this is the highest compliment. A woman who is gutsy, funny, charming, knows how to get what she wants, gobbles up life doesn’t nibble at it…..

So, this morning’s post dear readers is a tribute to all the women out there who understand that you’ll never be the age you are now, you’ll never be back as life moves forwards and doesn’t wait. And those of you who sort of know this but don’t live it… wake up! Give yourselves a kick and a hug too!!! Bless you all.

Yes, Blue State skin versus Red State Skin! This is the introductory post about this subject which we’ll write about over the next few days. Totally for fun, NOT based on scientific observation but more observations from years of travel, looking at famous women, not famous ones too.

How fitting it is that in this election year, and as the election itself draws near, that we at Boost Skincare comment on the candidates skin. Let’s face it, though we shouldn’t vote based on a candidates looks, we’re certainly not immune from well, “their looks”. They call her “Sexy Sarah” for many reasons, but what we at Boost Skincare notice most is her gorgeous, clear, smooth skin! Living in a colder climate has a bit to do with it. Not so much because cold weather is better, you’ve read our posts where we tell you it’s not that good. Women in colder climates (we think) tend to abuse their skin less. Something about the cold equals less make-up, less food (healthier diet), better skin. This is totally just our opinion. We had the same feelings in Sweden where most women had skin so utterly smooth, clear, creamy it was unspeakably beautiful! We chalked that down to high intake of salmon with the omega’s and little carbs (cultural. In the old days it was frozen a great part of the year so the only “bread” people could eat was the cracker bread that was made in the Summer and hung over the stove, can’t eat much of that as it’s akin to eating hardened cardboard).

Compare Sarah Palin’s complexion to John McCain’s which looks like it’s never seen an exfoliator! Senator Obama has a decent complexion, but still has the residual gray/blue cast that smoker’s have and the lack of sleep he’s probably living through isn’t helping.

Anyway, Sarah Palin has terrific skin, wonder if she’s using Boost Skincare?!?! If not, we’ll recommend it her, the other fine candidates, and of course to you! Go to the Boost Skincare Store and buy the 3 piece great skin kit which is 25% off through the end of October. That’s our gift to you this month.

Expensive vs. inexpensive skincare. We get this question literally daily! How do you know what’s best? The bottom line becomes that you should buy products that feel good on your skin, contain quality ingredients that are organic whenever possible and decently priced.

We understand the desire to buy the super expensive products. We’ve bought them ourselves! We’re talking products that cost $100 and up and contain words that make them sound magical. The bottom line is, if it sounds like it does magical things or uses words that really aren’t part of your daily vocabulary… it’s really just a cream at the end of the day. There are a lot of wonderful creams at Sephora, Nieman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and on the internet. How do you know what to use?

Nothing that could actually penetrate through the dead layers of your skin would be something you could buy over the counter. Repeat after me…if it penetrates, its a prescription cream. So, how do companies get away with saying “our magical cream penetrates your skin bla bla bla”? Because it does. Confusing. Okay, it penetrates the dead layers of your skin! The layers that mean nothing to you in terms of your skin looking great.

You’d be better off (actually really well off) simply exfoliating with some sugar and olive oil that you’d find in your kitchen. I promise. Try it!

And while you’re at it, try out Boost Skincare. Keep the faith and order our 3 product set that will get you started towards beautiful skin at an affordable price. We don’t skimp. We just don’t b.s. you. We’re the thinking woman’s skincare.
