With the begining of Fall (yes, we know, Summer is sadly over) it’s time to begin thinking about your Fall and Winter Skin care routine.

Use the Boost Skincare regimen, and augment it by eating a handful of walnuts each day (about an ounce or so) and Salmon one or twice a week. It’s a good habit to have and Fall means getting your skin ready. Getting your skin ready by getting it nicely lubricated with the nutrients that foods such as these provide.

With the passing yesterday of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson and great Charlie’s Angel and fantastic beauty Farrah Fawcett, our thoughts turn to the sadness that life can bring. Michael Jackson, according to today’s reports may have had a problem with demerol. Why do people who seemingly “have it all” implode? Maybe the light of stardom is too hot ultimately and burns. Michael never really knew what being normal was. As the world’s most famous person, a man who had no childhood, we cannot imagine how a human mind can change.

No wonder he liked hanging out with children. And Farrah, lovely Farrah. What a beautiful woman she was. There is enough being said without our adding to it. But this much we will say. When you have ANY unusual situations in your nether regions (i.e. your pitootie, or bum) go to the doctor! Don’t think it’s just a hemmorhoid. Get it checked out. Anal cancer is extremely curable if caught early. That’s the proble, it usually isn’t.

What do Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett have to do with a skin care company like Boost Skincare? Well, we want to point out that leading a beautiful and harmonious life, enjoying every minute, will make you beautiful. Of course, our skincare products will help, and we hope you purchase them and try them out, but at the end of the day, if you have a smile on your face and love someone and at least one person love’s you back. You’re beautiful and don’t worry about how your hair or skin look!

This is too good to pass up. Below is a list of “attributes” that this cream has listed describing it, on a blog called Splendicity. We’ll leave you with the list, and then over the next week try to translate it into “regular speak” so that we can all understand why exactly the cream is so fabulous. If anyone can translate this for us, or interpret it, please send the comments to info@BoostSkincare.com, we’d love to hear from you.

We’ll start with bullet point two. We’re not saying (disclaimer alert) that this company is saying anything that is false, but that the words are chosen to make you think it’s some crazy fantastic science, when it’s much simpler than that.

Here goes:

PhytoCelTec™ Malus Domestica, stem cells from a rare Swiss Apple that have been proven to slow down and delay the aging process.

“Malus Domestica” simply means “apple” in Latin. Why not say “apple”. stem cells from an apple? what the heck does that mean? Stem cells come from embryos or spines, not apples. “rare Swiss Apple”? What exactly does this mean. That apples are rare in Switzerland, which they might be, or that the particular type of apple is rare, which doesn’t mean it’s an endangered species but could mean that simply not a lot of people grow it because the fruit doesn’t taste good or produce a lot of apples. “rare” does not mean special in terms of anything. “Proven to slow the aging process” what is proven to slow the aging process? And in what? Doesn’t say it’s proven to slow the aging process in skin cells, and if it was, it’s not explained.

Anyway, the low-down is

“we trademarked the stem cells of some rare apple grown in Switzerland and these stem cells slow and delay aging, but we’re not telling you in what”

Switzerland always sounds good too, like their apples are better or they know something secretive. It’s the secret financial kingdom after all!

POINT 1, can’t resist, on a roll

???how can you have hormone replacement for the skin? I didn’t realize the skin has hormones? Who knew?

The Rundown:

Nano-Claire GY, a bioengineered growth hormone-like protein that works as a “hormone replacement therapy” for the skin.

PhytoCelTec™ Malus Domestica, stem cells from a rare Swiss Apple that have been proven to slow down and delay the aging process.

Happybelle, a phyto-endorphin extract that comes from the cactus Monk’s Pepper combined with antioxidant and moisturizing factors to help revitalize the skin and give it a radiant glow.

ACS (Anti-Cyto Stressor) to promote an overall bioregulation that follows and respects the cutaneous physiological mechanisms by hindering the alterations caused by stress hormone.

Osilift, a 100% Natural sugar tensor purified fraction of oat polysaccharides that gives an immediate tensor and long term anti-wrinkle effect to the skin.

I’m purposely calling this post “Anti-Oxidants, Miracle Ingredients and other Fads”. Slight twist of phrase there but it says a lot. After researching the “anti-oxidant” topic for several months, the conclusion from every reputable study that we found is that they might do something good for you if you ingest them, but do nothing when placed on top of the skin via a skin cream. This is in keeping with what we’ve written about a lot here, which is, pick a cream, toner and exfoliator that you love, that is a good quality with good, pesticide free ingredients if possible and use it. That’s all. The routine of cleansing, exfoliating and using sunscreen regularly is far more effective than paying a load of money for creams with “miracle ingredients”.

It’s like exercise. Many people put it off, and then do super workouts thinking it will make them look and feel good, while doing a little bit but doing it each day is the “secret”.

Find a skin care regimen that you like, and without fail each morning or evening, do it. Make it part of your daily habit. Then sit back and take the compliments.

I was once asked, “what’s the best skincare secret for travellers that you have?” Had to stop and think about it for a while. You know how it is, when you travel you end up with dull skin the second you get off the plane for some reason. Then you get to the hotel and realize you forgot your skin care products.

Well, the skincare secret for travelles, might be a bit unorthodox but here it is. Olive oil and sugar!! Open up a few packets of sugar and place them in the palm of your hand, drizzle some olive oil or any oil if you don’t have olive into the sugar until it’s a thick consistency. Spread this on your face and move your hands in a circular motion or just gently up and down being careful around your eyes. Then soap it off. You won’t believe how gorgeous your skin will look! Be sure to use sugar not salt as it’s gentler on the skin due to the shape of the grains. Exfoliation at its best!

That’s the best skincare secret for travellers but works at home too!

Spring has sprung! Spring facial care is a topic of confusion or apathy for many of our readers. You write in saying “should I continue the same routine from Winter into Spring? The answer is…no. Spring facial care should be focused on lightening up and changing products to reflect a shift from heavy to anti-oxidant rich. In the Winter months, we wanted you focusing on preserving water onto your skin because of the harsh indoor heat, outdoor wind, and so forth. But in Spring, it’s time to shake things up a little.

How? Here’s what you do. Cut back on the really heavy creams. Instead start using a mid-weight cream,or simply a lot less of the cream you used in the Winter. Start using an oil that is rich in anti-oxidants such as meadowfoam, olive, acai, or apricot. I switch in the Spring completely and use only oils, even in the daytime but with a very light application. Do a waxing exfoliation. We’ve all become big fans of this. I wrote about this in previous posts. Finally, if you’ve been skipping your sun protection, naughty you, this is the time to get into the habit!

This routine will do it for the next few months.
